Kelly Killough is in his thirty-third year as a professional artist. After receiving a degree in Envionmental Design and completing his military service in 1974 he began to pursue the idea of producing art works others may appreciate. Throughout Kelly's youth, his father had told stories of growing up on a small cotton farm and living through the Oklahoma Dust Bowl years. Kelly believies that may have been the planted seed that grew into a life long appreciation of the land and its beauty. Not being classically trained in the art of painting, Kelly is largly self taught but credits all of the many excellant artist that have come before and exist today with demonstrating the wide range of problem solving that is required to create quality art. All art works, when viewed objectively, create in the viewer an emotional or thoughtful response. Possitive, negative, thrilling, relaxing. An endless variety of emotions and countless interpretations can be derived from a single work of art. Kelly attempts to capture a representional likeness of his subject and to use color when the project requires it to enhance the response. Kelly often has stated, "I feel very fortunate everyday that I am producing art work to be doing what I love to do, to be able to support my family doing what I love to do and to have other people appreciate what I love doing." It is our hope at Kelly Killough Studios that you will enjoy Kelly's art and that it might plant a seed in your life that leads to beautiful things.
